The PADI Freediver course consists of about five hours of online knowledge development and about two full days of in-person training. In-person training includes one or two confined water sessions (depending on comfort and ability) and two open water sessions. We are flexible with scheduling and happy to run the course as half days instead of full days if preferred.
An access code for the PADI Freediver eLearning will be provided prior to the first day of the course as we ask students to complete all of the knowledge development before the in-person instruction. Before getting in the water on the first day we will have a short classroom session to review safety procedures, do the Knowledge Review quiz, and go over any questions you may have.
During the confined water session(s) you will learn and practice static apnea, dynamic apnea, duck dives, loss of motor control (LMC) rescue, shallow water blackout rescue, and how to be a responsible dive buddy. We then take those skills to open water where we will practice free immersion and constant weight dives while focusing on proper technique and streamlining. You will also be continuing to practice your responsible buddy role by escorting your buddy from depth and practicing LMC rescue at the surface. The second open water session will advance your skills and have you practice rescuing a diver from a blackout at depth.
Minimum age for the PADI Freediver Certification Course is 15 years old.
