The PADI Freediver course consists of about five hours of online knowledge development and about one full day of in-person training. In-person training includes a Knowledge Review session, one or two confined water sessions (depending on comfort and ability), and optional open water session. We are flexible with scheduling and happy to run the course as half days instead of a full day if preferred.
An access code for the PADI Freediver eLearning will be provided prior to the first day of the course as we ask students to complete all of the knowledge development before the in-person instruction. Before getting in the water on the first day we will have a short classroom session to review safety procedures, do the Knowledge Review quiz, and go over any questions you may have.
During the confined water session(s) you will learn and practice static apnea, dynamic apnea, duck dives, loss of motor control (LMC) rescue, shallow water blackout rescue, and how to be a responsible dive buddy. The optional open water dive includes free immersion (pull-downs) and constant weight dives while focusing on proper technique and streamlining. You will also be continuing to practice your responsible buddy role by practicing LMC rescue at the surface.
Minimum age for the PADI Basic Freediver Course is 12 years old.
